Here at Anglesey Holiday Lettings, we have been working extremely hard behind the scenes on a project which we are very passionate about. Business sustainability and environmental management have been the top of our priority list this year, however, we had to ensure this would not come at the compromise of our guests’ experiences. Therefore, it comes with great pleasure to announce that with the assistance of Keep Wales Tidy, we have recently been awarded ‘Green Key’ status for 7 of our properties.

The Green Key award is a leading standard of excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry. This prestigious eco-label represents a commitment by businesses that their tourism establishments adhere to the strict criteria as stipulated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). A Green Key stands for an establishment’s promise to its guests that by opting to stay with such an establishment, they are helping to make a difference on an environmental and sustainability level. The high environmental standards expected of these establishments are maintained through rigorous documentation and frequent audits.

As the tourism industry grows in Wales, so does its impact on the environment, therefore we had to make the decision to run our business in a more environmentally sustainable way. With the success of the 7 properties at the Llys Llewelyn complex in Aberffraw, we are now committed to expanding our Green key coverage across our portfolio.

So what is a Green Key property and how will it change your stay? Aside from having the knowledge that you are staying at sustainable/eco-friendly property, there should be no impact on your stay whatsoever. ‘Green Key’ properties merely come with the added benefit of incorporating more energy-efficient lighting and heating systems, using (where possible) recycled and sustainable materials, providing eco-friendly cleaning products and each property possesses a recycling/sustainable waste system. Therefore, you can relax during your stay knowing we are doing our utmost to become a more sustainable business whilst still providing our high standards of service.
